Journey Through Palia’s Main Quests
The main story introduces you to the world, unlocks key game features (home plot, Bahari Bay, temples), and rewards valuable items. This guide covers the entire critical path from the tutorial to the final temple.
🌄 Part 1: Kilima Valley – First Steps
- Welcome to Palia – Tutorial: learn movement, tool wheel, basic gathering.
- Your Little Plot of Land – Talk to Kenli/Ashura to claim your first home plot (free).
- Meet the Villagers – Talk to at least 5 NPCs in Kilima Village (Badruu, Ashura, Reth, etc.).
- First Tools – Craft a Workbench, then basic Axe and Pickaxe.
- Build a Campfire – Learn cooking by making Grilled Fish.
- Grow Your First Crop – Buy carrot seeds from Badruu, plant and water them.
- Unlock Fishing – Quest from Einar to get a Fishing Rod.
- The Town Hall – Help Kenli with his paperwork (fetch items).
After completing these, you’ll be directed to explore Bahari Bay.
🌊 Part 2: Unlocking Bahari Bay
- Quest: “A New Frontier” – Talk to Hodari at the Kilima Mines entrance. He asks you to bring 5 copper bars to repair the bridge.
- Reward: Access to Bahari Bay (southeast exit of Kilima Valley).
- Bahari Bay Introduction – Explore the new zone, meet Tamala (alchemist) at her hut, and discover rare resources (iron, palium).
- Quest: “The Bay’s Secrets” – Gather 3 glowing mushrooms and 2 dawn petals for Tamala → rewards alchemist’s brew recipe.
🌊 Temple of Waves – First Major Puzzle Dungeon
Located near the Bahari Bay coastline. The entrance is underwater; you must lower the water level first.
- Quest start: Found a mysterious tablet on the beach → talk to Jina (archaeologist).
- Puzzle 1 – Water Valves: Turn three valves in the correct order (marked by coral colors: red, blue, green).
- Puzzle 2 – Flowing Light: Reflect beams using movable mirrors to open doors.
- Puzzle 3 – Fish Mosaic: Step on tiles in the pattern of a fish (hint on the wall).
- Final boss: Ancient construct – use your pickaxe to break its shield, then arrow to hit core.
- Reward: “Wavebreaker” title, 200 Renown, and a Temple Orb (used for tool upgrade).
💨 Temple of Gales – Wind & Flight Puzzles
Accessible after completing Temple of Waves. Located high in the cliffs of Bahari Bay (need glider to reach).
- Quest start: Talk to Elouisa after she sends a letter.
- Puzzle 1 – Air Vents: Use updrafts to reach higher platforms; activate switches to redirect airflow.
- Puzzle 2 – Weighted Platforms: Stand on pressure plates with certain numbers of players (or use stone blocks as weights).
- Puzzle 3 – Wind Compass: Rotate fans to align compass needles to cardinal directions.
- Final challenge: Glider race through rings against a timer.
- Reward: “Gale Rider” title, 250 Renown, Glider skin (copper wings).
🌳 Temple of Roots – Underground Labyrinth
Unlocked after completing the previous two temples. Entrance in Kilima Forest, hidden behind a waterfall.
- Quest start: Investigate strange roots spreading from the forest (triggered by prior temples).
- Puzzle 1 – Symbiosis: Match fungi types (glowing vs. dark) to open gates.
- Puzzle 2 – Root Maze: Navigate a dark maze using light roots as torches.
- Puzzle 3 – Memory Game: Repeat a sequence of chimes (4-8 notes).
- Final boss: Corrupted treant – use fire arrows to burn vines, then axe to chop.
- Reward: “Root Walker” title, 300 Renown, Ancient Gardening Hoe (tool upgrade).
✨ After the Temples – Endgame Main Quests
- “The Ancient Door” – Combine the three Temple Orbs to open a sealed door in Bahari Bay. Leads to a vista and lore cutscene.
- “The Watcher” – A mysterious figure appears; follow clues to discover their identity (ongoing story, updated each patch).
- “Flow Experiment” – Quest from Hekla to gather flow-infused wood and stone for a machine (rewards 500 Renown).

💡 Main Story Tips
- Don’t rush: Many main quests are level‑gated (e.g., need certain skill level to craft required items).
- Bring friends for temples: Some puzzles require multiple players to stand on plates.
- Save Renown rewards – You’ll get Renown from quests; spend it on Focus upgrades first.
